This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, for citing the Dictionnaire étymologique de l'ancien français website (DEAFél).

The template takes the following parameters:

|1= or |entry= – the name of the entry on the DEAF website. If this parameter is omitted, the name of the Wiktionary entry is used as a default.
|2=, |pos=, or |part of speech= – the part of speech of the entry. The template automatically adds a full stop (period) to the end.
|3=, |urlname=, or |un= – mandatory: the entry name in the DEAF URL; this will not necessarily be identical to the entry name.
|date= – the date of the DEAF entry webpage. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to "1968-".
|4= or |accessdate= – the date when the DEAF webpage was accessed, in one of the following formats: 1 January 2017 or January 1, 2017.
|subentry= – a term that appears as a subentry under an entry.
|subpos= – the part of speech of the subentry.
|5=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the webpage.
|nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
|id= – the id of the entry, whenever |3= does not suffice, such as in the case of veille.
