Usage

This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, to provide a citation to the British version of the Macmillan English Dictionary website.

It is equivalent to using {{R:Macmillan}} with the |lang=UK parameter.

Parameters

• |1= or |entry= – the name of the entry on the website. If this parameter is not stated, the name of the Wiktionary entry is used.
• |2= or |url= – if the default URL is not linking to the correct webpage in the British version of the Dictionary, use this parameter to indicate the URL of the webpage to be linked to.
• |3=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the website.
• |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.

Examples

• Wikitext:
  • {{R:MacmillanUK}} (assuming the template is used on the labour the point page); or
  • {{R:MacmillanUK|entry=labour the point}}; or
  • {{R:MacmillanUK|labour the point}}
• Result: “labour the point” (UK) in Macmillan English Dictionary.

• Wikitext:
  • {{R:MacmillanUK|entry=(I) can't say fairer than that|url=https://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/british/i-can-t-say-fairer-than-that}}
• Result: “(I) can't say fairer than that” (UK) in Macmillan English Dictionary.
